The idea for Mendsi results from considerations made about the sustainable fashion economy. The traditional fashion economy is a very profit-oriented industry, which usually is directed to a mass market where big players use a “fast-fashion” approach to increase margins. From the production, over sales, to after-sales, sustainability has not been playing a big role in the perfectionating of these processes. Mass production and an untransparent supply chain using poor quality materials cause the fashion industry to be one of the biggest drivers of global warming. As a customer, there are some ways we can fight these tendencies, for example by buying sustainable brands (e.g. Patagonia, Armedangels, etc.) and buying fewer clothing pieces in general.ca
